The purpose of this page is to provide you with some light entertainment and to share some simple life lessons. To that end, each item is accompanied by an explanatory remark.
A- Mind your judgment... Be a good listener!!
The following conversation was taking place between a lady and a guy walking in a street:
Lady: Do you smoke?
Guy: Yes, I do.
Lady: How many packs a day?
Guy: 3 packs.
Lady: How much per pack?
Guy: $10.00 per pack.
Lady: And how long have you been smoking?
Guy: 15 years.
Lady: So, 1 pack is $10.00 and you have been smoking 3 packs a day, which puts your spending per month at $900. In 1 year, it would have been $10,800. Correct?
Guy: Correct.
Lady: If 1 year you spend $10,800, not accounting for inflation, the past 15 years puts your spending total at $162,000. Correct?
Guy: Correct.
Lady: Do you know that if you hadn’t smoked, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 15 years, you could have by now bought a Ferrari?
Guy: Oh. Do you smoke?
Lady: No.
Guy: Then where’s your f- - king Ferrari?
Source: Unknown
Message: Not everyone responds well to open criticism or judgment. In fact, unsolicited advice may be seen as patronizing or condescending in some cultures. On the other hand, it is sometimes valuable to swallow your pride and listen to what someone has to say, even when we don’t want to hear it.
B- Take it easy my friend!!
This may happen,
“When you have a Ph.D. in Photography.”
Remark: It is possible to overthink a situation, or be too eager to apply whatever advanced knowledge or techniques you have learned. But sometimes, simpler is better, and someone with ordinary common sense can find a more practical solution than someone with advanced degrees.
C- Don’t jump to conclusion
English Version:
Yesterday, I was walking with my wife when this happened. I let go of my wife’s hand to take this picture. She did not talk to me the whole day, and at night she asked how I dared do that to her. I replied “why wouldn’t I have done that? It’s not every day that we see a dog driving a car…”
Message: Be sure to fully understand the motivation for someone’s actions before passing judgment on them. As with decision-making, making judgments requires careful verification of all the facts, given that things are not always what they look like or what you think they are.
